Allen
Baston
October 17, 1972 — October 6, 2026
Portland - Allen Keith Baston, 53, passed away on October 6, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, following a brief illness, with Lisa, Kristen, and Brayden by his side.
Allen was born on October 14, 1972, in Farmington, Maine, the son of John Baston and Cheryl (Voter) Hinkley. He graduated from Mt. Abram High School in 1990.
Allen spent much of his life cutting wood and also worked in carpentry for Jeff Murphy. He was a talented woodworker who took pride in creating tables, kitchen cabinetry, and a variety of other projects. Whether working in the woods or building something from scratch, Allen appreciated the satisfaction of a job well done.
Allen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, especially when he could share those experiences with his grandson, Brayden. He also enjoyed recreational gardening, listening to music, and exploring the back roads of Maine, often with his “Alweiser” and a smoke in hand. Music was a favorite pastime, particularly soft rock, and he was an enthusiastic fan of Eddie Van Halen, who, coincidentally, passed away on the same date, October 6, six years earlier.
For 23 years, Allen shared his life with his longtime companion, Lisa Barden. Together, they built a life filled with shared experiences, family, and memories. Allen especially treasured the time he spent with Brayden, passing along his love of the outdoors and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Allen also held a special place in his heart for his beloved furry companions, Denzel, Rugar, and BA, who brought him comfort, companionship, and many happy moments. They were an important part of his life and held a place all their own in his heart.
Allen is survived by his longtime companion, Lisa Barden; his stepdaughter, Kristen (Mitchell) Cote and her husband, Phil; his grandson, Brayden Lovejoy; his sister-in-law, Jenny (Barden) Nile; his niece, Mikala Nile; and his brother-in-law, Vincent Barden and his wife, Renee.
He was predeceased by his mother, Cheryl (Voter) Hinkley, and his mother-in-law, Glenna Barden.
Allen will be remembered for his love of the Maine outdoors, and the simple, familiar things that made him who he was. His memory will live on in the family he loved, the projects he created, and the many back roads, woods, and fishing spots that brought him happiness.
Arrangements are under the care of Dan & Scott's Cremation and Funeral services, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME, 04938, where memories, condolences and photos may be shared at www.dsfuneral.com
