Dallas Plantation – Barbara Moura Brackett "Goolie", passed away on August 18th, 2024, at her home in Dallas Plantation, Maine. She showed tremendous strength and resilience in her 3-year battle with cancer and is now being greeted by the loved ones who went before her, especially her husband, Daniel "Mooch" Brackett, and her mother, Kathryn Ketcham Moura. Barbara was born in Whitefield, New Hampshire on May 5th, 1957. At a very young age, Barbara became known to her family as "Goolie", a nickname that stayed with her throughout her life. She first moved to Rangeley during her school years and graduated from Rangeley High School. Goolie lived in many places during her life, including Long Island Ny, Texas and St. Thomas USVI; she returned home to Rangeley more than 30 years ago. Her many occupations included certified hairstylist and licensed massage practitioner. Her most recent employment, from which she retired, was housekeeper at The Rangeley Inn. She is survived by her five siblings: Antoinette Freeman "Toni", Kathleen Ferguson "Kathy", George Moura, Guy (Jackie Cook) Moura, and Stephanie (Kristen Patneaude) Moura; stepdaughter, Joslyn (Dave) Austin; nieces and nephews, Zoe, Aimee, Gabriel, Brittney, and Dimitrius; grandchildren, Caroline, Lucy, and Aaron; and many dear cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, "Mooch" Brackett; and her two cherished Chihuahuas, Tiny and Eldon.
