Livermore - Barry C Hammond, 83, of Livermore, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Barry was born on September 15, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT. He was later adopted by Reginald and Sarah Hammond of Turner, ME. He was a 1960 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner.
On September 21, 1963, he married Anne Jacques of East Livermore. They then made their home in Livermore where they raised their family. He started his career at the International Paper Company and the Otis Mill and later transferred to the Androscoggin Mill in Jay.
Barry was an avid outdoorsman and was a devoted hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and one of the founders of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine. Four-mile brook in the Allagash was his most cherished hunting and fishing destination as he and his closest friends shared many excursions there in his lifetime. He also spent a lot of time at his many hidden hunting 'shacks' throughout the greater Livermore area, as well as his camp in Langtown over the years.
Barry loved his family deeply and enjoyed every minute spent with them. The bond he created with his grandchildren was amazing and unbreakable. He loved people, he loved the outdoors, he loved his family. He loved it all with a smile, a personality, and a joy, that simply made you want to be around him.
His passing has left a hole in our community, in his circle of friends, and in his family that can never be filled. Never again will people wonder what's in the 'white bucket' as he drives through all the towns and neighborhoods that he adored.
He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Sarah Hammond; siblings, Rachel Alward, Margaret Pratt, and Carlton "Bill" Hammond; as well his sister-in-law, Barbara Hammond.
He is survived by his wife, of nearly 63 years, Anne Hammond. He is also survived by his two sons, Randy and Jeff Hammond; his three grandchildren, Danielle Stubbs-Hammond, India Stubbs-Hammond and Jennifer Hammond; and his six great grandchildren, Madilyn, Quinn, Arielle, Astraea, Hudson, and Jax.
There will be a graveside service held on Saturday July 11, at 10:00 am, at Lakeside Cemetery in Livermore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in Barry's name, to the Livermore Volunteer Fire Department,10 Crash Rd., Livermore ME 04253.
