Brent
Deming
December 23, 1966 — July 2, 2026
Brent found joy in the simple things that made life worth living.
Strong - Brent E. Deming, 59, of Strong passed away on July 2, 2026, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta with family by his side. Born December 23, 1966, Brent was the son of Roy and Loretta Deming of Strong. Brent was raised in Strong and attended Mt. Abram High School, graduating in 1985. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1985 to 1989.
Following his military service, Brent returned home to Maine and began building a life defined by hard work, determination, curiosity, and an eagerness to continually learn something new. He started his own cleaning company in Portland before becoming a department manager at IDEXX Laboratories in Westbrook. In 2005, Brent followed another passion and started his own photography/journalist business. His talent and dedication quickly carried him far beyond Maine, and he became an international award-winning wedding photojournalist, traveling across the country to photograph weddings and create lasting memories for countless couples and families. In 2013, Brent settled into his career as a writer, editor, and web designer for Casey Research and later Mauldin Economics. Brent took the most pride in this job, as he was passionate and deeply curious about global financial markets. He remained in this career until his passing.
Outside of work, Brent found joy in the simple things that made life worth living. He loved going to concerts, gathering with friends around the poker table, fishing off the tuna boat he and his brother Roi purchased, gardening, watching sports, and spending weekends around a fire with his family-listening to music, talking, laughing (he had an infectious laugh), and enjoying one another’s company. But above everything else, family was Brent’s whole world. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to being a father and grandfather. Alexis, Emily, and Jack were among the greatest loves of his life, and becoming a grandfather brought him a special kind of happiness that was unmistakable.
Brent is survived by his children, Alexis Deming of Avon, Emily Deming of Temple, and Jack Deming of Cape Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Loretta “Etta” Dean, Toby Sullivan, and Corallee Sullivan; his mother, Loretta Deming (Lisherness) of Strong; his sister, Carolyn Deming and brother-in-law, Daniel Libby of Strong; nephews, Michael Deming of Canaan, and Cory Deming of Madison; his uncle, Robin Lisherness of Strong; and his aunt, Celena Libby of Strong.
His greatest legacy... will always be the love he gave to his family.
He was predeceased by his father, Roy Deming, Jr.; his brother, Roi Deming; his grandparents, Charles and Miriam (Lake) Lisherness of Strong, Roy Deming Sr., and Freda D. Deming of Strong.
Those who knew Brent will remember a man who was intelligent, hardworking, talented, resilient, loving, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He could find happiness in a boat on the water, with friends, working in his garden, gathered around the fire with music playing, or simply spending time with the people who mattered most to him. His greatest legacy, however, will always be the love he gave to his family and the memories he created with them.
The family will honor Brent’s life with a private graveside service with military honors by the Honor Guard.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the oncology staff at Harold Alfond Center for their compassionate care, dedication and kindness.
Brent’s life was filled with many accomplishments, adventures, friendships, and stories.
Brent’s life was filled with many accomplishments, adventures, friendships, and stories, but his greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so fiercely. He will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
“Today I put on summer clothes and journey to a place I haven’t seen”
