Avon- Candy May Wilcox, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home, November 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love. Candy Was born in Avon, Maine, August 30, 1957, the daughter of Richard E Wilcox and Phebe Ester (Phillips) Wilcox.
Candy was known for her caring nature — a woman whose gentle strength and sweet personality touched everyone she met. She had a kind heart and a deep love and passion for cooking, which became one of her greatest expressions. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Throughout her life, Candy showed dedication and determination in all she did. She held several jobs, working at Forster's, Sugarloaf, the Farmington Shoe Shop, and at Paula's Place before earning her real estate license, where she eventually purchased and operated C & L Deli in Avon. Her hard work and hospitality made her a cherished member of the community.
Candy was predeceased by her grandparents, Everett and Evelyn Wilcox; her aunts, Ruby and Winona Wilcox; her parents, Richard (Bill) and Phebe Wilcox; her brother, Everett "Duff" Wilcox; her niece, Michelle Wilcox; and her long-time partner, Linwood Bachelder, with whom she shared many loving years.
She is survived by her brothers, Scott, Lance, and Dale T. Wilcox; her sister, Belle Wilcox; her son, Dale E. Wilcox; her grandchildren, Garret and Jocelyn Wilcox; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Candy will be remembered for her love, laughter, and unwavering kindness — qualities that will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit of generosity, joy, and devotion to family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced when finalized.
