Obituary

Augusta - Carrie Meader, 84 of Augusta, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at Augusta Rehabilitation and Recovery in Augusta, Maine. She was born Carrie Cunningham on October 21, 1940, the daughter of Hannah and Cecil Cunningham, Carrie was educated in the Augusta school district. She then went on and married her lifelong partner, George Harlow Meader, in which they married on September 23, 1961. In her early years, Carrie was a homemaker to her children while also working beside George at Lipman's Poultry in Augusta and Readfield, Decoster's Egg Farm in Winthrop, and The Vienna Blueberry Mountain. Carrie enjoyed family gatherings, camping with her husband, George and her sister, Gail Lord and her Husband Charles Lord Sr" Spud" in Greenville. She had a love for shopping at Goodwill and absolutely loved mowing her lawn. Carrie is survived by her daughter, Diane Meader of Pittston; sons, Frank Meader and wife Jean of Farmingdale and Johnny Meader and wife Kris of Arizona; grandchildren, Derik Wight, Chad Wight and wife Jenna, O'shun Wight, Tyler Jortikka and wife Anna, Muriel Meader, Sarah Meader; and eight great grandchildren, all who she loved and thought the world of so much. Carrie was predeceased by her parents, Hannah Meader and Cecil Cunningham; three sisters, Etta Meader, Marcia Gregoire, Gail Lord; her husband, George Meader; and two great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to Augusta Rehabilitation and Recovery in Augusta for the love and great care they have provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PAL's Cat Shelter, 188 Case Road, Winthrop Maine,04364 A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2025, from 11-2 p.m., at the Vienna Fire Department Community Center, 16 Kimball Pond Road, Vienna ME. There will be a small graveside service for family at Franklin Cemetery, Tower Rd at 9:30 am the same day with a prayer from Pastor Shane Stoop.
