New Sharon – Cheryl Barker Schanz, 76, has moved on to her eternal home on Friday September 19, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1949, to Lester and Phyllis Barker. She attended schools in New Vineyard and Farmington. She married Lee Schanz Sr. on November 13, 1965. Cheryl and Lee spent several years renovating and flipping homes. She was well known for her love of antiquing and lawn saleing. She had a hobby of framing prints and selling them. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grammie. She will always be remembered for her love of God and her boldness in sharing her faith. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Phyllis Barker; and her siblings, Betty Ellis, Jr. Barker, Louie Barker, and Clyde Barker. She is survived by her son, Lee Schanz Jr. and his wife Kelly; daughter, Tricia Bailey and her husband Dennis; grandchildren, Stephen Schanz and wife Alethea, Amber York and her husband Luke, Sarah Brooks and her husband Nathaniel, Christine Schanz, Anne Myers, Ethan Bailey and his wife Emily, Ben Bailey, and Levi Bailey and his wife Kayla; she also has 12 great-grandchildren, Caraline, Coralee, Shelbi, Lilli, Colton, Carson, Alexander, Aurora, Oakley, Willow, Autumn, and Asa. A funeral service honoring Cheryl will be held on Saturday October 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Gospel Light Baptist Church in New Vineyard. A gathering with refreshments will follow in the church's dining hall.
