Marrero, LA – Dalton Charles Black, Sgt E5, 31, of Marrero, LA, passed away suddenly on September 15, 2026.
Dalton was born on May 22, 1995, to Cynthia Leigh Lambert. He attended schools in Monmouth and Farmington, Maine. Dalton graduated from Mt. Blue High School, class of 2013. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 2014, serving in Japan for 2 years and was honorably discharged in 2019. Dalton then went on to enter the Louisiana State Police Academy and after graduating from the academy, he was employed by the New Orleans Police Department, Badge 618, for 5 years, and NVI for 2 years until taking his most recent job with Precision NDT.
Dalton was an avid reader, especially the Harry Potter series. He loved fishing, hunting, playing his guitar and singing. He spent many of his younger years with his Poppy and Mamie in Industry, watching, sharing, and learning. He and Joey, his brother, were working on a computer program at the time of his death.
“Sybo, my pal, I will always remember our time spent fishing for Buster Bass at Clearwater Lake, fishing the Kennebago from the dam owned by your great great grandfather, Edgar Perley Churchill. You shooting your first partridge in Langton. All the times we played pool at the Elk’s; traveling to New Jersey, in a blizzard, to see Uncle Bryan and Aunt Beth so you could go see the Allman Brothers at the Beacon Theater in New York City. How you so loved your mother; your sisters, Macey “Magee”, Hannah “Buttons” and Isabella “Tinker Bell”; your brothers, Blake “Mickey Mo” and Daniel “Dano” and your dad, Jim. All the times you visited with great Grammie and got cookies or a piece of candy from her dish. Cooking Christmas breakfast of partridge, bacon, home fries and eggs. Sitting down back by the fire with me and Mamie. How you always put others first and loved pretty much everyone and being the big brother. *Always remember, don’t ever forget who loves you, Poppy*”
He spent many of his younger years with his Poppy and Mamie in Industry, watching, sharing, and learning.
Dalton loved to come home, whenever he could, to spend time with his mom, siblings and family. He so loved going ice fishing with his cousins in northern Maine.
