Obituary

David Richard Boucher, lovingly known as "Happy," passed away on January 22, 2026. Born on September 18, 1950. He grew up in Holden, Massachusetts, alongside his parents, Richard "Dick" and Helen Boucher, and his siblings, Beverly and Beth. He later built a life with the love of his life, Claudia Boucher, and together they raised their daughter, Erin Boucher. Erin and her husband, Josh Kelley, blessed David with two grandchildren, Morgan Kelley and Amiah Keizer, who brought him immense joy. Even now, his passing feels unreal, and the world seems quieter without him. Happy was a man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of safety to those who loved him. He had a special gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories, whether thrift shopping at the Ministry, taking peaceful trips down to the river with the dogs, or spending time at Old Orchard Beach. These moments, simple as they were, were filled with love, laughter, and togetherness. Happy's wisdom and warmth shone through in every conversation. He had a way of sharing stories, advice, and insight that made everyone feel heard, understood, and valued. Daily routines, like coming downstairs after work to check in or sharing a morning cup of coffee, were small gestures that reflected his immense care. These acts of love, though ordinary in appearance, were extraordinary in heart, and they will be deeply missed. Beyond being a devoted father and grandfather, Happy was a teacher, a role model, and a steadfast source of love. He showed through his actions what it means to care deeply for others. He was passionate, attentive, and endlessly generous—always ensuring those he loved were safe, warm, and well taken care of. Happy worked many years as one of Santa Claus's helpers during the Christmas season, delivering the wishes of children to the big man in red himself. When not spreading holiday cheer, he could be found playing fetch with his beloved springer spaniels, panning for gold in the river, or watching New England sports (Go Pats!). Above all, Happy loved spending time with his family, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Claudia shared that she and Dave were together for nearly 50 years. Though they were not married for the last 13, they never stopped being part of each other's lives. They did not live together but remained each other's great love and soulmates. She remembers him as a wonderful father and grandfather who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Claudia takes comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and imagines him now at peace, breathing freely, being reunited with her brother, his best friend, and his parents—free from the troubles of this world. "We will all be together again someday," she shared. "Rest easy, my love. I love you." Erin recalls, "The past year he really became my best friend… he taught me everything about birds, even if I didn't want to know. He was my hero, and there's a huge hole in my heart that will never be filled." Morgan shares, "Every time we talked, I learned something new from him… he had a way of making everyday moments feel special. I'll miss him more than I can put into words." Amiah adds, "I am really going to miss you, Happy. You never treated me any differently, and your love and advice will always stay with me." Beverly will cherish the memories of growing up with David, and what an amazing brother to her he was. She says, "I will miss him forever, I love him so much." William Penn once wrote, "They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies." Happy's love, kindness, and guidance will continue to live on in the hearts of those he cherished, in the stories they tell, the lessons they share, and the traditions they carry forward. Though he is no longer physically present, David "Happy" Boucher will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the Spring. Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, Maine, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com
