David was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life.

New Vineyard - David Lee Nile, 77, of New Vineyard, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, with his family by his side. He is finally at peace. David was born in Farmington, Maine, on June 25, 1949, the son of Paul Nile and Norma (Heath) Nile. He attended Roosevelt School in New Vineyard and Anson Academy.

On July 7, 1966, David joined the United States Army alongside his friend Joseph Wilde through the Buddy System. He proudly served his country, including a deployment to Vietnam. He returned home and was honorably discharged on March 30, 1969, at the rank of SP4.

Following his military service, David returned to civilian life and worked at Fred O. Smith’s in New Vineyard, Solon Manufacturer in Solon, and in the maintenance department at Sugarloaf. He also worked in the woods alongside his brothers.

David was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, taking trips to Enchanted Pond, and listening to music. He had a natural talent for carpentry and took great pride in helping construct several homes for family members. His willingness to lend a hand and work alongside those he loved was a meaningful part of who he was.

David married Jennifer (Barden) on July 25, 1999, and together they shared 27 years of marriage.

He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Norma Nile; brothers, Dennis and Peter; sister, Dayle; former wife, Deirdre Cass; and his mother-in-law, Glenna Barden.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Jen; daughters, Karen, Beth, Sandy and husband Dominic, and Mikala; sons, Steene and his Bethany, David and wife Kelly, John, Conrad, and Shawn; brothers, Douglas and wife Janet, Dan and wife Ellie, Paul Jr., and Frank and wife Laurie; sister, Eileen and husband Robert; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his father-in-law, Larry; sisters-in-law, Lisa and husband Alan, and Brandy and husband Chris; and brother-in-law, Vincent and wife Renee.

David will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he shared with them, the work of his hands, his love of the outdoors, and the many memories created over the years. His journey is now complete, and he is finally at peace.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at 113 North Main Street, Strong, Maine. A graveside burial with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta, Maine.
