Avon - Elaine M. Haines (Pinkham), aged 82, passed away on May 9, 2025, in Farmington, Maine. Born on January 25, 1943, in Philips, Maine, Elaine was a cherished member of her community and a dedicated professional in the fashion industry, focusing on shoemaking at various factories throughout her career. Elaine graduated from Philips High School and soon after embarked on a career that spanned many years in the fashion sector. Her work primarily involved the intricate craft of shoemaking, reflecting her keen eye for detail and her commitment to quality. In addition to her professional pursuits, Elaine was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary Club and the American Legion. She had a passion for Bingo and Cribbage and was also fond of Diamond Art and reading. Above all, Elaine loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to her life.
Elaine is survived by her sons, Terry (Nina) Haines and Jason (Cory Cook) Haines; sisters, Janice Washington of Farmington and Marie (Wayne) McCarthy of New Sharon; grandchildren, Amanda Bachelder, Timothy Bachelder, Richard Haines, Craig Haines, Ashley Haines, Kirsten Bailey, Tarek Haines, Shaylea Haines; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Pinkham; mother, Louise Pinkham Howard; sons, D. Scott Haines and Adam Haines; and sisters, Frances Harding and Nancy Ross.
Elaine's life will be celebrated and remembered for her enduring love for her family, her significant contributions to the fashion industry, and her active participation in community activities. Her legacy of warmth, dedication, and kindness will continue to resonate with all who knew her.
A graveside service will take place on Friday July 25th, 2025, at 1 PM at the Mile Square Cemetery in Avon, Maine.
A gathering will take place after the graveside service from 1:30-4 PM at the Avon Town Hall.
