Obituary

Eustis - Frank Edward Caldwell Sr., age 79, of Eustis, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, after a battle with intestinal lung disease and congestive heart failure, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Portland, ME at Brighton Medical Center on June 21, 1945, to Ernest A. Caldwell, Sr. and Olive (Donahue) Caldwell of Eustis, ME. He was the youngest of their 6 children. Frank was raised at his family's farm on Eustis Ridge with beautiful views of the Bigelow Mountain range overlooking Flagstaff Lake. The farm was a dairy farm and was also supported by the logging industry. Frank enjoyed his childhood on the ridge with many a family member. He attended Stratton High School and on his senior class trip met the love of his life, Judith A. Skillings. They married on August 7, 1965. They both had been educated in the "hair" industry as barber and beautician. Frank was called to serve his country and served in the US Air Force. He was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. He and Judy established their family there, welcoming their first 2 children in 1966 and 1967. Frank then served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After completing his service, Frank settled his family in West Baldwin, ME where his wife Judy had been raised. They welcomed their third child in 1973. He worked as a carpenter for several years before joining the workforce with Sylvania in Standish, ME. where he spent over 30 years. Frank has served as Scout Master for Troop 367 Boy Scouts in Baldwin and was a long-time member of the volunteer fire service in West Baldwin, Maine. Frank enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and playing baseball in his early years. He continued to enjoy carpentry and built a full addition on the family home in Baldwin and continued to expand the family camp over the years. Frank and Judy enjoyed 10 years of being "snowbirds" between Maine and Punta Gorda, Florida before deciding to return to Maine full time on Eustis Ridge where their camp had now been turned into a home with his continued lifelong expansion of the property. Frank very much enjoyed his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved by so many, both family, friends and even strangers. He had love for everyone and made a friend everywhere he went. Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Judy; his son, Frank Edward Caldwell Jr. and wife Sara of Gorham, ME.; son, Walter Gordon Caldwell and husband Scott Pace of Orlando Florida; and daughter, Tamara Dale Caldwell-Thompson of Brownfield, ME. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren Caldwell-Kallis and husband Niko Kallis of Freeport, Maine; Chandler Caldwell of Westbrook, Maine; Chloe Caldwell of Gorham, Maine: Jacob Ward, Jordan Ward and Jasmine Ward of Brownfield, Maine. He also had the pleasure of loving 4 great grandchildren: Odin, Kacen, Rowan and Raelyn. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, Maine, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
