Farmington - Glendon S Farmer, 74, of Farmington, ME, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, after a short illness. Glendon was born on April 11, 1952, the son of Glenwood B Farmer and Eletrice M (Stewart) Farmer. He first attended school (grades K-5) in West Farmington before moving to the Ingalls School in Farmington for 6th grade. He graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1971.
Glendon (Glendy) was first employed by the State of Maine by working on the paving crew. After graduating from high school, he was employed as a home-building contractor by his cousin, H.C. Farmer, Inc. He continued working as a contractor until his retirement, working with various construction firms and becoming self-employed towards the end. He often said that he had the key to many homes and businesses in Franklin County, but he couldn't remember which key went with which job. He was an accomplished contractor, specializing in remodeling, as well as kitchens and bathrooms. He often built the cabinets himself, preferring them to factory-built ones because the quality was better. This was evident in him and his customers' pride in the excellent craftsmanship.
He was a loving husband and father who always felt that family was everything. He could always be counted on to take care of whatever job needed to be done by those who knew him.
He was pre-deceased by both of his parents; his sisters, Bonnie and Connie Farmer; his brother, David Farmer; his brother-in-law, Eric Stevens; brother-in-law, Greg Smart; and his father-in-law, Albert W. Bergeron.
Glendon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine (Bergeron) Farmer of Farmington; his eldest child, Kian (Sara) Farmer of Farmington; his son, Travis Farmer of Farmington; his sisters, Sharon (Eric) Stevens of Gardner, Deanne (Alton) Hyer of Augusta, Kim (Greg) Smart of Milo; his brother, Greg (Debbie) Farmer of New Vineyard; his mother-in-law, Audrey (Albert) Bergeron of Farmington; and his brother-in-law, Albert (Beth) Bergeron of Leeds. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Per the family's request, there will be no public burial or service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Glendon's name to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, ME 04938 (207) 778-2638.
