Obituary

Lorraine B. Mitchell passed on from this earth in the early morning of November 1st, surrounded by her loving children. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a 3-year fight with ovarian cancer. She was the hands and feet of Jesus. Her passion for Christ was always foremost, and to those she loved and knew her faith was evident. She wanted to make sure they were given an opportunity to know and have a relationship with the Lord she served and loved. She was born at home in Livermore Maine. She was the youngest of 9 siblings: six brothers and two sisters. At a young age she moved to Strong. She spent her teenage years growing up on Burbank Hill with her sister and brother-in-law, Erlene and Gene Wood, lovingly known to us as "Grammie Erlene and Grampa Gene". She was a 1957 graduate of Strong High School. She was married to the love of her life, Brud (Clarence) Mitchell of Strong, in 1958. They made their home in Strong where they raised four children. Dad and Mom built a new home in beloved West Freeman in 1988 where they both resided until each of their passing. She was a teller at the very first bank that came to Strong in the early 70's. She worked in the office for the Town of Strong. Brud and Lorraine owned and operated Beal's Variety Store in Strong from 1975 to 1980. For many years she was a member of AGLOW, a Woman's Ministry organization. She became involved with His Hands Ministry and felt lead to serve the Lord in this ministry for the children of Haiti. She sponsored several children and upon her death still had children in her fold. She loved them passionately. Her Haiti mission friends, and family were able to be with her just prior to her passing through the grace of God and technology. In her later years, well into her 80's she was a care giver in the community of Strong. She attended Living Waters Assembly of God in Farmington and The Nazarene Church in Strong. She and Dad loved to go dancing, snowmobiling, and traveled extensively here and abroad until a decline in Dad's health. She loved being a homemaker. Porter Lake camp was one of her "happy places" as well as, Haiti. She and Dad were blessed by having so many friends. Her family was her heart and when asked couldn't wait to tell anyone how many grandchildren and great grandchildren she has with "another one on the way". This is a legacy, by her and Dad, that is rooted in our minds and most importantly, our hearts. We wish to thank ALL caregivers, friends and family who rallied around her in the cancer journey.
