Obituary

Farmington - Henry C. Tietjen, 74, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Henry was born Nov. 16, 1951, in Somerville, New Jersey. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and his cousins, Richie, Freddy & Bobby Dahms, and riding his motorcycle. He came to Maine in the early 1970s, where he met his future wife, Elizabeth. Henry worked many jobs throughout his life, but the longest amount of time was spent with the maintenance department at Franklin Memorial Hospital where he spent over 40 years. Henry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, integrity, and a deep love for his family. Throughout his life, he took pride in providing for those he loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his free time, Henry enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots, and fixing anything needed at home. And if Henry wasn't at home or at work, there was a good chance that he and Beth were at the casino, legally robbing them for all they were worth. More than anything, Henry cherished the time spent with his family. Whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, he made those around him feel loved and supported. His steady presence, wisdom, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; his brothers, William (Anita) and John (Bonnie); his sisters, Joan (John) and Carole (Tim); his children, Dennis (Ashley), Michelle, and Chris (Niki); his grandchildren, Chris, Brandon (Moreland), Brandyn (Angel), Brooke (Ki), Andrew (Katrina), Dustin (Giselle), and Hannah. Additionally, Henry is survived by many nieces and nephews and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Vera; his mother-in-law, Anne; his sisters-in-law, Anita and Bonnie; and his brother-in-law, Archie. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 268 Barker Road, New Vineyard, ME 04956. Friends and family are invited to stay for refreshments following the service. Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington Maine, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.dsfuneral.com
