New Sharon - Hermona Jane Holdaway, 85, passed away on May 12th, 2026, peacefully at home with family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.
Hermona was born August 7th, 1940, in Spanish Fork, Utah. The daughter of Herman William Anderson and Donna Jane (Gull) Anderson. She attended Spanish Fork schools, Snow College, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University. She taught elementary school for many years. She was a wonderful teacher and her students loved her, many of them kept in touch for years. She was a kind and loving person and loved by all who knew her.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her family and found joy in teaching, dancing, gardening, sewing, making homemade cards, handmade teddy bears, knitting, crocheting and reading.
Hermona was first married to Kay S. Mortensen, the father of her four children. They later divorced. She then married Stanley "Ace" Chambers and later married the love of her life Glade A. Holdaway.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Rae Mortensen, her husband Glade Holdaway, brother William Anderson and her parents Herman and Donna Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Roger Kay Mortensen and his wife, Pam of Payson, Utah; Julie Ann Farnsworth and her husband, Mark of New Sharon, Maine; Paul Sherman Mortensen and his wife, Corina of Orem, Utah. Her grandchildren, Tyler W. Farnsworth; Traci J. Klinker and her husband, Luke; Tara R. Whitney, and Justin S. Mortensen. Her great-grandchildren, Lincoln Whitney, Jackson Klinker, and Natalie Klinker. Her siblings, Raymond Anderson and his wife, Linda; Robert Anderson and his wife, Laura; and Lenore Fowles and her husband, Paul.
Her final resting place will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Dan & Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at
