Obituary

New Sharon - It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Holli J. (Lamoreau) Smith of New Sharon, Maine. On Sunday, July 20, 2025, Holli, at 55 years old, lost the extensive battle with illnesses. Holli was born on January 30, 1970, in Framingham, Massachusetts. She grew up in Somerville, Maine, with her parents, Brian and Ellen (French) Lamoreau, and younger sister, Heidi. She attended Somerville Elementary and graduated from Erskine Academy in South China, Maine in 1988. In her early life, Holli served her community as a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. She married in August 1988 and although her first marriage did not last, it gave Holli her two children, Brandi and Brian. Holli's children were her world. For many years she stayed at home to provide care for her autistic children. Her current husband, Eric, loved and supported Holli in every aspect. Eventually she returned to school and received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration, working for the State of Maine for many years. Later in life, Holli served her community as a Widow Son's Lady and member of the Eastern Star. Holli loved to read (especially Harry Potter, J.R.R. Tolkein, and C.S. Lewis), to play board and video games, to sing karaoke, to have "Sister Time," but she especially loved to spend time with her husband and her kids. Holli was able to light up the room with her bright blue eyes and fantastic smile. She loved her family and friends fiercely. Her quick-witted sarcasm and infectious laughter had everyone laughing with her. Her passing has fractured the hearts of anyone who knew her. But she would want us to remember what Sirius Black said in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, "But know this; the ones that loved us never really leave us." Holli was predeceased by her father, Brian Lamoreau; both grandmothers, Eunice Hill and Glenys Brice; two grandfathers, Arnold Lamoreau and James Brice; and several uncles and aunts. Holli is survived by her mother and stepfather, Ellen and David Barney; her husband, Eric Smith; her two children, Brandi and Brian Ferguson; her sisters Tracy (Lamoreau) Brown and Heidi (Lamoreau) Bernier; as well as aunts, uncles, and many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. Holli's family will hold a celebration of life on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 1pm-5pm at Le Club Calumet in Augusta, Maine, and is open to all of Holli's family and friends. A private burial to be held at a later date. On behalf of Holli's family, monumental appreciation is sent to the staff and residents of Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan. The care shown to Holli was exceptional and is a cherished memory. Another special thank you goes to Beacon Hospice Care, who provided Holli with anxiety and pain relief in her final days. This service was crucial to her peaceful departure. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Autism Society of Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Dan & Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington Maine, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
