New Portland - Irene Dorcas Minott left this earth, on October 25, 2025, to meet her Creator and Savior face to face and be reunited with her beloved parents. Born February 10, 1952, Irene had a full life. She lived in Halifax and Plympton MA, Burlington and then New Portland, Maine and for many years wintered in Florida with her Mommy & Daddy. Irene attended various special-ed schools.
Irene loved life and was the ultimate people-pleaser, always telling her hospice nurses and anyone that inquired that she was 'fine'. She loved bowling and basketball and was good at both! She was often seen as caddy on the golf course with Mom & Dad, often taking a few strokes if the course was quiet. Irene LOVED swimming and would spend hours in the water at Darby Pond. She could often be seen rowing her boat around the pond.
She loved her family. Irene cherished visits from family and would talk about upcoming events non-stop until they happened and then re-live the event for days. Irene had MANY nicknames and would laugh each time she heard them. She was known to gobble at her brother Bruce when he called or visited.
Irene was always smiling and had the ability to make everyone smile and be more light-hearted when they were with her. She often had incredible "one-liners" that brought all who heard to laughter.
Irene is predeceased by her loving parents, Irving C. Minott, Jr and Virginia (Bourne) Minott.
She is survived by her siblings, Irving C. Minott III (Chuck) & Roberta Minott, Bruce Minott & Carol Minott, Debra (Minott) Wales & Michael Wales; Annie Wales (niece, assistant caretaker, and Irene's private coffee barista); also, nieces & nephews, Melissa Ryan, Robert & Sarah Wales, Lianna, Sara Minott, C.J. & Kelly Minott, Keith & Carrie Minott, Kasey Sims; and great nieces & nephews, Eddie Ryan, Joshua & Ethan Wales, Mari Colbert, Brady & Declan Minott, Faith & Jake Minott, and Billy Sims.
