Resident of Whitman MA, moved to Maine in 2000. Passed away on June 3, 2023. She was the wife of William Lewis III. She is survived by her children, Robert Govoni , Kristina Govoni Pierce, Scott Govoni, Mark Govoni, and Rego Govoni.
Joan is the daughter of Arnold and Evelyn Goodwin. She was an only child. Grandmother to Robert Govoni Jr. (deceased). Jennifer Govoni, Ashley Govoni, Scott Govoni Jr., Kristina Govoni, baby Michael Govoni (deceased), James Pierce, Shamus Pierce, Adam Pierce, Lisa Govoni Maliguti, Nicole Govoni, Lily Govoni, Rocco Govoni, Michael Govoni, Alex Govoni, Zac Govoni. Also survived by her great grandchildren, Bella Govoni, Dominic Govoni, Landon Govoni, Brooklyn Govoni, Chelsea Govoni, Gia Govoni, John Govoni, Victoria Kristina Curly, Kaley Marie Pierce, Shamus Pierce, Anthony Maliguti, Mila and Arellano Rose Govoni, Emma Tourcotte and Aiden Tourcotte, Lily Govoni, Abigail, Michael, and Oakly Govoni-Mason; great, great grandchildren, Mateo Govoni and Iris Govoni.
Joan was also a stepmom to Dawn Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, William 'Billy Jr" (deceased), and Harry Lewis.
Joan taught her children to cook some of the finest meals, preferably Italian from homemade pasta, tortellini, etc.
Joan was a "Jack of all trades", she played the organ and sang for the church, she was a seamstress, ran a community residence for many years, and mothered 30 handicapped clients as well as many wanderers. In between, she did her own carpentry, and arts and crafts. In later years, she ran a ceramic studio, and taught classes at college level in Maine.
she had a talent for socializing, with all walks of life. Joan was one of the most special woman and mother and will be greatly missed. God Bless her soul.
She will be put to rest later., at St. James Cemetery in Whitman MA. with her mother, Evelyn and grandmother, Grace McGragcon.
