Farmington - Joan Sargent of Farmington, Maine, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 85. The daughter of Edward and Blanche (Laforme) Trudeau. Joan was born July 6, 1939, in Waltham, Massachusetts and later moved to California with her family. While living in California, Joan enjoyed attending local dances where she met a young man in the military, from Maine, that caught her eye, Harley Sargent. Joan and Harley were married 66 years. As their family grew, they chose to move back to Maine where Joan worked at J.L. Coombs and Franklin Memorial Hospital.
During their life together Joan and Harley shared many adventures: packing the family up and traveling back and forth from California to Maine many times to visit family and friends; attending flying events with their close friends, Allan and Melanie Haggan; traveling the East coast in their RV and wintering in Florida and Tennessee where they spent time with their daughter, Debra.
Joan is survived by her husband, Harley Sargent; brother-in-law, Rodney Sargent (Cindy); three sons and their spouses: Michael Sargent (Teresa), Glen Sargent (Kristen), Douglas Sargent (Delena); grandchildren, Casey Abbott, Kristi Sargent, Breanna Sargent Cochran, Britney Sargent, Brecken Sargent, Brinlyn Sargent, Daelyn Sargent, Rielyn Sargent, Bricelyn Sargent, and Ashlyn Sargent; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan is predeceased by her daughter, Debra Sargent Waddle; parents, Edward and Blanche Trudeau; three brothers: Edward Trudeau, Conrad Trudeau, Gerard Trudeau; and a sister, Betty Loria.
A private service will be held at a later date.
The Sargent family would like to thank the staff at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison and Beacon Hospice for the care they provided Joan.
