New Portland - Kenneth Douglas Atwood, 74 of New Portland, passed away on September 22, 2026, at his home on Atwood Hill surrounded by family. He was in the home that he built with his wife Wardy, overlooking the mountains of western Maine including Sugarloaf and the Bigelow Range.

Kenneth was born in Farmington Maine. He grew up in New Portland and graduated from Anson Academy in the class of 1969. Kenneth served in the Army and upon returning home, settled on the Hill. He and Wardy built their home and shared 50 years together.

He is survived by his wife Wardy; daughter Michelle; grandson Ezra and his wife Victoria; great grandsons Ayden and Gabriel; brothers Richard and David, along with their spouses; nieces Jessica and Nicole; nephew Colby; great niece Emma and great nephews Nate and RJ.

Many beautiful memories and adventures were made by Kenneth with his nieces Jessica and Nicole through the years. These memories have brought smiles and some laughs to this difficult time.

Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Colby, and his nephew Alex.

Kenneth touched many lives throughout the area. He was a great friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

At Kenneth's request, there will be no funeral services.
