Wilton - Lance Lemieux, 63, of Wilton, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lance was born in Manchester, NH, to Vern Lemieux and Marlene McAvoy Dunn. He graduated from Houlton High School in 1982 and received his associate's degree in business from UMF in 1988. It was while attending college that he would watch from his apartment balcony a young co-ed walk to class, and he would turn to his friend and say, "I'm going to marry that girl." Lance and Lisa would wed two weeks after graduating and together build a loving life for the next 38 years.
Lance had many passions in his life, but his top three were family, dogs, and the New England Patriots. And depending on the day, that order could change.
He never left his house without dog treats in his pocket. If you had a dog, you could bet he would strike up a conversation. He was a huge supporter of the Franklin Animal Shelter, often running in their Strut Your Stray race.
If you knew Lance, you knew he lived and breathed New England Patriots football. Some of his best memories were attending home games. He would make elaborate tailgating plans and pack food to share with everyone. He considered Gillette Stadium sacred ground.
But above all else, Lance was a family man. His greatest joys in life were built around his children and grandchildren. You might have found him quietly reading to them in a cozy chair or in the kitchen, teaching them how to make the best homemade pizza around. He would take them on every water slide and go-kart ride because Lance was still a kid at heart. A rite of passage for them all was digging up worms in the backyard and fishing with him at Wilson Lake. It was an adventure, whether they caught anything or not.
Lance had a lifelong love of physical fitness, whether that be competing in 5Ks, playing basketball, lifting weights, yoga class with his wife, golfing, or his all-time favorite, The Tough Mountain Challenge at Sunday River. Lance was always happiest when he was moving.
Lance worked his entire life, first for BIW, then Pallet One, the Maine Municipal Association, and finally the State of Maine. He taught numerous Defensive Driving classes across the state and CPR classes to many people. Above all, he loved being a volunteer firefighter, which he did for 15 years, first in Wilton, then in Jay. Another volunteer job he treasured was assisting Mainers with their taxes through the CASH Coalition. His final act of giving was to be an organ donor. He was truly the most compassionate and generous person. He considered everyone a friend.
Lance is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his children, Pat Lemieux and fiancée Krystin True, Jenna Eaton and husband Kyle; his cherished grandchildren, Tristan, Charlotte, Everly, and Oliver; his mother and stepfather, Marlene and Russell Dunn; mother-in-law, Sally Robbins; sister, Lisa Lemieux; brother, Phillip Cullins; stepsisters, Susan Hardy and Linda Diaz; as well as extended family members Bob and Kathy Robbins, Lori and Kip Houghton and their families, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves behind his beloved dog Franklin.
He was predeceased by his father, Vern Lemieux; his father-in-law, Brad Robbins; and his grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 at the Lion's Club in Wilton. To honor his spirit, feel free to wear your favorite Patriots shirt. And bring a lawn chair for some tailgating to follow.
