Obituary

New Sharon - Lee Schanz Sr., 77, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 11, 2024. Lee was born December 18, 1946, the son of Horace and Lucile (Tuscan) Schanz. He attended Farmington Schools and graduated from Farmington High School in 1965. Lee was a "Jack of all trades and a master of many". He started at 8 years of age with a paper route. He was a truck driver, state worker, carpenter, snowshoe maker, hand sewer, mechanic, and mason. He attended Canaan Calvary Christian Church for 27 years and had recently started attending Gospel Light Baptist Church in New Vineyard. He loved hunting, fishing, and getting a "good deal" at a yard sale. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Horace and Lucile, and his brother, Gene. He is survived by his siblings, Betsy Grayboyes; Timmy Schanz; Duane Schanz, and wife Pam; Cindy Hinds; and Susan Brackett and her husband, Doug. He is also survived by wife, Cheryl Barker Schanz; son, Lee Schanz Jr., and wife, Kelly; daughter, Tricia Baily, and husband, Dennis; grandson, Stephen Schanz, and wife, Alethea; granddaughters, Amber York, and husband, Luke; Sarah Brooks, and husband, Nathaniel; Christine Schanz; and Anne Myers; grandsons, Ethan Bailey, and wife, Emily; Ben Bailey; and Levi Bailey, and wife, Kayla. He also had 10 beloved great-grandchildren: Caraline, Coralee, Shelbi, Colton, Carson, Alexander, Aurora, Oakley, Autumn, Willow, and two more on their way. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30th at 10 a.m. at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 268 Barker Road, New Vineyard. A reception will follow in the church dining area.
