Farmington- Leslie Diane Johndro, 79, of Farmington, Maine, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 11, 2024. Born on September 2, 1945, Leslie was a cherished member of the community, known for her dedication to both her family and her passion for nature and homesteading.
Leslie graduated from Mt. Blue High School and spent her life immersed in the culinary world. Starting her career at the family-owned Sargent's in Farmington, she later brought her talents to the Homewood Inn in Yarmouth, and North Yarmouth Academy. After taking time to focus on her family, particularly advocating for her eldest daughter's education,
Leslie made a notable return to the culinary scene at the Homestead Bakey. Her creations like Buddhas Garden and the Pesto Grill, earned her acclaim.
Despite her busy career, Leslie was deeply committed to gardening, a hobby she explored with vigor and passed down to her daughter, Veronda. Her garden was a place of experimentation and joy, where she cultivated various plants, from tomatoes to edible flowers.
Leslie is survived by her daughters, Veronda Johndro and Deronda Spearing; and son in law, Robert Lorrain. She is predeceased in death by her parents, Virginia Ferguson and Victor Sargent; sister, Linda Sargent Armstrong; also, her husband, Rodney Johndro.
Leslie's life was marked by her quiet love for the natural world and her persistent dedication to her family's wellbeing, particularly in supporting her daughters' growth and education. Her legacy of nurturing and resilience continues to inspire those who knew her.
