NEW VINEYARD –Maria Ann (Ellis) Webber, 62, of New Vineyard, was called home by her mumma, daddy and sistah, on November 9th, 2025. She was born in Farmington, Maine on January 7, 1963, to Stanton L. and Betty L. (Barker) Ellis. Maria attended Farmington schools and graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1981. After graduating, Maria married Scott Webber, on October 3,1981, at the Fairbanks Union Church. They enjoyed their honeymoon at the Fryeburg Fair, then settled and made their life on the Stanley Road in New Vineyard. Maria took pride in being a homemaker by milking cows on their farm and was often found making hay with the boys in their play pen under the shade tree. For many years, she was the caretaker for the cemeteries in the town of New Vineyard also acting as the sexton for the town, digging many graves by hand. She cleared the Pratt Cemetery by hand, served on the town planning board and took great pride in these accomplishments, often reminiscing about the headstones and how she was related to so many. While raising a family, Maria also worked many years for Cianbro Corporation in the tool crib, keeping all the guys supplied with their welding goodies.
When Maria wasn't working, she enjoyed hunting with the boys, many ice fishing trips to Gammon Pond, camping at Hermit Island and Cathedral Pines, or frequently spending the day with her boys at New Vineyard Beach. She and Scott spent many nights dancing with their close friends Gerard and Shelia Castonguay. Maria could be found cruising back roads in her Trans Am, Monte Carlo, or Camaro. Maria was known for her creativity, paying close attention to the details of her holiday wreaths, Christmas dog ornaments, and her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved holiday gatherings with her loved ones, including her 13 grandchildren. She was especially proud of her boys being State Champion Wrestlers and loved bragging about their accomplishments, and her grandkids carrying on the tradition. The announcement of her first grandchild's (Brooklynn) upcoming arrival came while Maria was in Portland undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor. This brought Maria newfound strength in dual battles with lung cancer and her brain tumor. Despite the many obstacles Maria faced in the past 18 years, she persevered and continued to live life to the fullest. A perfect word to describe Maria would be tenacious. She was a bright light; her presence was felt in every room she walked into. She wouldn't think twice about helping anyone in need, there weren't any strangers in Maria's life, she considered everyone she met her friend.
Maria is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Alicia Carroll; brothers, Gary Ellis, Gale Ellis, and Theodore Ellis.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Scott Webber; sons, Scott II of New Vineyard, Seth and his wife Hannah of New Vineyard, Shane and his wife Mikala of New Vineyard, and Samuel and his companion Jess of Chesterville; her grandchildren, Brooklynn, Bristol, Brier, Stanton, Sean, Sophia, Brynnley, Natalie, Coleman, Sterling, Ezamai, Ezailia, Enzleigh, Leah, Lucy, and Lydia; her brother, Timothy Ellis; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
