Farmington - Mark Benson Gray passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, in his home on October 24, 2024, with his wife and two daughters by his side.
Mark was born in Farmington, Maine on November 26th, 1944, the son of Richard and Vertie (Collins) Gray. He attended Farmington High School and graduated, the class of 1965. He joined the US Navy and served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged, August of 1971. He married Linda Clemens in May of 1969.
He was a self-employed woodsman, then worked for the University of Maine at Farmington for over 30 years. Mark was a self-proclaimed "jack of all trades master of none" with the exception of mastering being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loving husband. He built and remodeled 6 family homes, made furniture, repaired clocks and restored old vehicles. He enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing, kayaking, riding motorcycles and putting puzzles together with his wife. He would go out of his way to help family and friends; he was always willing to share his time and knowledge. He was always busy doing something.
Mark was pre-deceased by his parents; older brother, Richard; mother-in-law, Lillian Nile; and his son, Kevin Gray.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Gray; their daughters, Tracy Dunham (James) and Amy Bradford (Paul Meyer); 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; 5 sisters; 1 brother; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his home on November 10th at 2:00pm.
