New Sharon - Mercy M. Hanson, age 78, passed away on October 3, 2025, peacefully in her home, following a rich and lively life. Born June 13, 1947, the daughter of Gladys E. Stinger and James L. Berkeley. Mercy was born in Brunswick, ME., but she resided most of her life in New Sharon. Mercy was a feisty, outspoken and fiercely independent bookworm who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was extremely skilled at knitting, sewing and loved animals such as the birds she fed and her pets. Mercy is survived by her two sisters; two daughters; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many friends. In lieu of flowers or gift baskets, Mercy expressed to always have preferences for donations.
