Her life was one of service, friendship, family, and a lasting commitment to the Farmington community she called home.
Farmington – Meredith Dawn Prime Ranger of Farmington, Maine, passed away on August 25, 2026. She was born on November 19, 1946, in Augusta Maine, the daughter of Lorraine (Shepherd) Prime and Roland Prime.
Meredith attended Hall-Dale High School and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Special Education. On June 7, 1969, she married her husband Eugene “Gene” Ranger. Meredith and Gene spent their life in Farmington, Maine raising their two sons. She began her career with three years at the State of Maine Laboratories before she started teaching at Cape Cod Hill School in 1969. She spent the majority of her career teaching at W.G. Mallett School and retired in 2004, having spent 35 years as an educator. For several years Meredith was a co-director of the Titcomb Ski School with friend Carol Young. She was a board member of the Fairbanks Neighborhood School Association, a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, the Porter Lake Association, Franklin County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Music Boosters and Sports Boosters, while Mark and Jared were at school.
In Meredith’s younger years she played trumpet in the Augusta Legion Band and worked as a guide at the Old Fort Western in Augusta, Maine. She also enjoyed the friendship of her monthly bridge group. Meredith enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s concerts, recitals, and sporting events, spending time with her two sisters, Karen and Sue, vacationing in Prince Edward Island and OBX, N.C. with her husband Gene, and spending time at family camp in Strong.

Meredith enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s concerts, recitals, and sporting events.
Meredith is survived by her husband, Eugene; her sons, Mark (Jennifer) and Jared (Jaime); her sisters, Karen Prime of Marietta, Ohio and Sue Listewnik of Holden, Massachusetts and Strong, Maine; and her five grandchildren, Malia, Colby, Natalie, Chase, and Cameron.
Public visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 28, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 2:00 pm, located at Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road. Farmington. A public reception at Ayuh Cider, 272 Morrison Hill Road, Farmington will begin at 3:30 pm.
