Farmington - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Michael (Mike) Gullifer, on February 26, 2025, after a long and valiant battle with Esophageal Cancer. Mike died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born on July 14, 1961, in Waterville, Maine to Gerald and Priscilla (Jewell) Gullifer. He received his education in Waterville schools where he would meet his lifelong friends who became his brothers of the heart. Throughout the years, their families became his own.
Mike was a kindhearted, jovial man with a big personality who became a friend to everyone he met. Most important in his life though, was his family, who he loved dearly. His grandchildren were the lights of his life.
Mike was a self-employed drywall contractor for most of his life, having worked for many companies throughout the state of Maine.
Stock car racing was one of his great passions, having spent many years as a part of pit crews at Unity Raceway. He had the pleasure of leading crews for both his son and his nephew. He was a huge sports fan, faithfully cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, Georgia Bulldogs and the Red Sox. He chose to be called Papi by his grandchildren as a nod to his favorite Red Sox player. He loved following his son's softball teams, having spent many years coaching his own teams. He was a loud and proud member of the "Moxie Pond Posse" with a trip to "hunting camp" being one of his favorite adventures each year. Many memories were made at the little camp near Moxie Pond with his fellow posse members. We all knew that whatever happened at camp, stayed at camp. He could also be found every fall at the local fair, betting on horse races. He was one of his grandchildren's biggest fans at their sporting events.
Mike was such an important part of so many lives, but none more important than to his family. He could always be counted on for a good laugh, a big hug, many debates, necessary life advice and was a well-known keeper of secrets resulting from many important "garage talks" with his kids, grandkids and friends.
He met the love of his life, Pamela, in 2004 and they were married on July 8, 2011. They created a big, beautiful, blended family who he loved without end.
Mike will be forever missed and loved dearly by his wife, Pam and his children, Nicole (Chris) Gullifer-Cole, Brian (Amanda) Gullifer, Heather Hallman, Heidi (Jesse) Sillanpaa and Sierra (Makki) Powers. His grandchildren, Gunnar & Wylow Cole, Miles & Mia Gullifer, Haylee Hallman, Shantel Heikkinen, Autumn & Kody Hallman, Cole & Jesslyn Sillanpaa. Also, by his great grandchildren, Brantley, Kylie, Jackson, Ellie & baby Heikkinen who will arrive in August. His "brothers of the heart" & their families, Brian Bolduc & Michael Sullivan. His sisters and brother in-laws with whom he had a special relationship, Ray (Dawn) Kelley, Marlene (Ted) Bradley, Cindy Whttier & Priscilla (Everett) Bartlett. A special nephew, Dylan Turner along with his sister, Tammy (Tim) Turner and nephew Kyle. As well as many other nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald, his mother, Priscilla and son-in-law, Ryan Hallman. His special brothers, Jim & Donnie Bolduc.
A celebration of life will be hosted in July by the family per Mike's wishes.
Arrangements are under the care of Dan & Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
