Chesterville - It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of Michael Kidd Jr., who died unexpectedly following an accident, on September 12, 2026. He was born on January 9, 1991, in Farmington, ME, the son of Sherrie Hastings and Michael Kidd, Sr.

Michael lived his life to the fullest with a big smile, an even bigger laugh, and absolutely no filter. Michael was the kind of person who could fill a room without even trying. He was funny, outgoing, quick-witted, and always ready with a story, a joke, or a little shock and awe just to keep everyone on their toes.

Michael believed life was meant to be lived wide open, and he did his best to do exactly that. Whether he was fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, or simply finding somewhere to sit and watch the sunset, he appreciated the freedom of being outdoors.

More than anything, Michael loved people. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved his time with his nieces and nephews, and they loved their time with Uncle Mikey. His most valued time though was the time that he spent with his son, Dayton. His relationships mattered deeply to him, and he had a way of connecting with people wherever he went. He was known for making lifelong friends and leaving people with stories they would continue telling and laughing about for years to come.

Michael was also a talented writer and a man whose faith played an important role in his life. He was a member of Living Waters Church and, through the trials he faced, worked hard to improve his life and become a better version of himself.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Michael Kidd Sr., who he deeply missed and always looked forward to the day they would be reunited, and his paternal grandparents, Dinah and David Kidd II. He leaves behind his beloved son, Dayton Kidd; his mother, Sherrie Hastings (and partner Paul), his sisters, Casey Kidd (and partner Rob) and Emily McHugh (and partner Kevin); his maternal grandparents, Robert and Gayle Hastings; his uncle, Mike Hastings (and partner Cindy); former step-siblings, Patrick and Katelyn McHugh, his uncle, David Kidd III, who was a very special person in his life (and wife Lauren); aunts, Susie, Kathy, Karen, and Margie; his nieces and nephews, extended family, and the many friends that he collected throughout his life.

Michael’s life wasn’t always an easy road, but it was undeniably his road. He lived loudly, loved and protected his people, laughed often, made mistakes, learned lessons, kept trying, and never lost that unmistakable spark that made him Michael. Those who knew him will remember the big grin, the contagious laugh, the stories that probably shouldn’t be repeated in church, and the way he could make an ordinary moment unforgettable.

Most of all, Mike will be remembered as a dad, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend who wanted to live life to its fullest and who left a piece of himself with everyone lucky enough to know him.

Services will be held Saturday, September 26, at Living Waters Church, located on Wilton Road in Farmington, at 11 am. A celebration of life with military honors will immediately follow at the Elks Lodge in West Farmington. A private burial will take place at a later date, in the family plot, where Michael will be laid to rest with his dad.
