Obituary

With a heart full of gratitude and joy, we celebrate the life of Michael Smith, who was born on December 29, 1952 in Phillips, Maine, and peacefully passed away on May 12, 2023. "Be strong, be brave, be content, don't give in, don't give up." Michael, also known as Mike and Grandpa, truly embraced this verse. Michael was a thoughtful, witty, funny, and a dedicated father and friend who touched the lives of many. Straight out of Mount Abram High School Michael went to work at Foster Manufacturing in Strong, ME from 1971-1997. He then spent his career in the hospital administrative field after getting an associate degree in business and marketing. After retiring, Michael channeled his passions into his family, remodeling the old homestead, painting, and engaging in various DIY projects. He found great joy in spending time chatting with his closest neighbors Butch and Brenda, family game nights, gatherings under the maple trees, attending his grand children's sports games, playing basketball with his grandchildren, and spending time with his dog, Hannah. Michael treasured his Pentecostal faith, which guided him through his life's journey. Michael is survived by his brother Butch and his wife Jeanie Smith; children Mikelle and Barry Davenport, Shanda and Twink Hargreaves, TJ and Shain Romanoski, and Aaron and Devon Smith; his grandchildren Miranda Paul, Alexis Robbins, Jameson Smith, Bode Davenport, Ridge Romanoski, and Luke Romanoski. Great-grandchildren Jase Paul and Braylee Paul. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Everett Smith and Aletha Heath; his sister Joyce Pinkham; his brother Ted Smith; his nephew Rick Pinkham; his niece Vicky Pinkham; and his uncle and aunt Kendall and Donna Heath. Michael's legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends. "Home- it's where your heart is; where healing begins and ends; its where your life journey begins, and the place you always come back to. It's where your family is; it's your heart." We invite you to share your memories and upload cherished photographs of Michael to his memorial page, as we continue to honor and celebrate his life. There will be a private family and close friends gathering at a later date.
