Rangeley- Nancy Lee Stewart "Goat"
Nancy Lee Stewart, lovingly known as "Goat", age 66, passed away on December 25th, 2025, due to complications from Lupus, which she contracted in the service due to chemical warfare. She was born on January 17th, 1959, the daughter of Hazen and Isabel (Haley) Stewart.
Nancy graduated from Rangeley High School and enrolled in the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. She proudly served her country for more than 20 years and retired at a rank of Staff Sergeant. During her military career, Nancy was stationed at several bases across the United States and also served overseas in Germany and Saudi Arabia.
Nancy was a devoted family person who deeply valued time spent with her loved ones. She especially enjoyed playing bingo and poker, and cherished moments shared with her nieces, nephews and extended family. Her loyalty, humor and strong sense of service left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Hazen and Isabel Stewart; her sister, Ferne "Flossy" Stewart; sister-in-law, Jean Stewart; and her nephews, David Stewart and George Frank Herbert. Nancy is survived by her siblings: Shirley Herbert and husband George Herbert; Rupert Stewart; Neil Stewart and his wife Bobby Stewart; Susie Simon and her husband Milt Simon; and Glendon "Batman" Stewart. She is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews who will miss her dearly.
Nancy's life of service, dedication to family, and steadfast spirit will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her.
There will be a funeral service honoring Nancy, held January 10 at 11:00 am, located at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main Street, Rangeley, ME., with refreshments to follow at Parkside and Main, 2520 Main Street, Rangeley, Maine. A burial in the spring will be announced at a later date.
