Salem - Pam White Shaw, age 73, passed peacefully at Maine General Hospital on April 4th after an acute illness and due to complications of Corticobasal Degeneration.
Pam was born on March 20th, 1952, in Farmington, Maine to her parents Nathalie Raymond White and Gordon White of Phillips, Maine. She attended school in Phillips and was among the second senior class to graduate from Mount Abram High School in 1971.
Pam met her beloved husband, William John Shaw, and they were married on April 27th, 1978. They resided in Strong and Salem, Maine. Together they enjoyed exploring the outdoors, camping at Natanis Campground, fishing, trips with friends, and enjoyed their dream trip to Alaska.
Pam was the epitome of a mother and wife. She was an avid gardener, canning her produce, including pickles and Jams. Pam enjoyed baking and often spoiled her family with treats, especially her homemade doughnuts.
Pam was a skilled and creative crafter. Her quilts were beautifully designed with coordinated fabrics, she sewed holiday and formal dresses and gowns for her girls and others, in addition to crocheted and knitted items that many family members and friends have cherished. She put a lot of thought and love into the items she made for others as gifts, and she enjoyed teaching others to sew, knit, or crochet.
Pam was a quiet, kindhearted, generous, poised, and grateful person. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and community supporting those around her during times of need. She was active in her community, as a member of the Eastern Star in Strong, the Women's Pine Tree Club in Salem, and she assisted with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts in Kingfield. Pam was an active member and treasurer of the ATV Club in Salem where she assisted with managerial tasks and worked alongside her husband John and club members to maintain local trails.
As a devoted mother, her children and family were incredibly important to her. She provided guidance when requested and allowed each one to choose their path in life. Pam and John often hosted holidays and gatherings as she loved having her home packed with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
Pam is survived by her husband William "John" Shaw Jr, his son John Scott Shaw, and her daughter from her first marriage to Austin Bachelder, Angel Richardson and her husband Dale Richardson, and their children Nick Richardson, and Alyssa Luna. Pam and John also shared a daughter and a son, Chris Mitchell, and her husband Jon Mitchell and their children Laurel and Jack Mitchell, Daniel K. In addition to her sister Terri White, brother Marshall White, sister-in-law Terry and her husband Shashi Parekh, brother-in-law Daniel Shaw, brother-in-law Patrick Shaw, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and three great-granddaughters.
