Farmington - Patricia C. Grant, 94, passed away on January 25th, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born in Damariscotta, Maine on October 14th, 1930, to parents Otto and Iola (House) Cowan. Her mother later remarried Harold Brown, becoming Iola Brown, who Patricia had said was such a good man. She attended schools in Damariscotta, Walpole, and Bath, Maine. Patricia graduated from Morse High School in 1948, where she was active in sports and other activities. She always worked from a young age and some of her jobs included babysitting, working for a time at a grocery store drugstore, the Bath Rec. Dept., waiting tables, running errands for neighbors, working at a big department store in Norfolk, Virginia, and she worked as a driver for Pine Tree Transportation taking people to and from their appointments. She attended and graduated from Farmington State Teacher College (now UMF) in 1952, with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. Patricia lived in Norfolk, Virginia until she returned to Farmington in 1955. She married Charles E. Grant of Farmington, on July 7th of 1952. Patricia was a schoolteacher for 30 years in Wiscasset, Livermore, Temple, and W.G. Mallett School in Farmington for 25 of those years. Patricia had a love of reading, gardening, camping, sewing, knitting (especially Afghans), and taking care of her cocker spaniels. She also loved cooking and had made up her own spaghetti sauce recipe which she cooked many, many times. She loved making soups and desserts, canning her chocolate peanut butter frosting, which was everyone's favorite. Patricia is predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Grant; her brother, Gordon D. Cowan; brother, Robert E. Cowan; her dear grandson, Patrick G. Wyman; and by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her children: son, Geoffrey E. Grant of Farmington; son, Robert C. Grant of Farmington; daughter, Rebecca Therrien of Industry; daughter, Gayle Wyman of New Portland; her grandchildren, Kendra Pratt of Strong; Karin Love of Strong; Sarina Grant of Winthrop; her great-grandchildren, Summer love, Skylar Love, Alden Pratt, Avery Pratt, and Korrie Pratt; and her sisters, Pamela Pinkham and Carole Mayes. "Hold on to what is good, even if it is a handful on earth. Hold on to what you believe, even if it is a tree which stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do, even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life, even when it is easier letting go. Hold on to my hand, even when I have gone away from you." – Native American Prayer At Patricia's request there will be no funeral services, but a burial at Gay Cemetery in Farmington, Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Patricia requested donations to the animal shelters in Farmington, Maine.
