Wilton - Paul J Berkey, Sr. of Wilton went home to be with his Lord on March 29, 2026, in Zephyrhills, FL. Born August 3, 1936, in Punxsutawney, PA, he was one of 10 children born to Joseph and Hazel (Barnett) Berkey. On May 15, 1960, he married Jean Michael. He and Jean were married for 56 years. On December 31, 2016, he married Ruth A. True in New Vineyard, ME. Paul served his country in the US Army from 1959 to 1962 in Ft. Knox, KY. Upon his discharge from the army, he worked in the paper industry for 36 years retiring from the Otis Mill in Jay, ME in 1998. Paul loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with family in Punxsutawney as well as in many areas of Maine. He enjoyed playing golf and did so until his fall in December of 2024 breaking his hip and left arm. Many thought he would not survive this event, but Paul thought to himself, "You don't know my great physician". Paul volunteered at Camp Good News for many years helping wherever there was a need. He often opened his home to others, needing a place to stay, an evening meal or a game of cards. In later years, Paul enjoyed cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. When he was ready to go on a trip, he would say, "Let's Go"! Paul was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Wilton, ME where he had served as a Deacon and Trustee. While in Florida, he attended New Walk Church of Zephyrhills, FL and Pasadena Baptist Church of Dade City, FL. His desire was to share the Gospel with others and for others to see Christ in him. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of Wilton, ME; his son, Jason and wife Tammy of Farmington, Falls, ME; stepsons, Troy A True of Wilton, ME and N. Ft Meyers, FL, Kenneth A True and wife Cindy of Jay, ME, Matthew A True of The Villages, FL; sisters, Pauline Shirey and husband Paul of Punxsutawney Pa., Elsie Young of Punxsutawney PA.; grandchildren, Chelsie Berkey, Brittany Berkey and Allison Watson and family, Tashia Porter and husband, Jeremy and family, Kayla Turner and husband Jonathan and family, Caryn Sabia (Ryan) and family, Cassi True, Jordan True of Wilton, and Jack True of Yarmouth, ME. He loved his great-grandchildren who fondly called him "Grandpa" or "Bumpa". He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Paul J. Berkey, Jr.; brothers, Everett Clyde, Earl, Howard and Harold; and sisters, Imogene Helsel, Betty Cukanna and Anna Whitman.
