Obituary

Paul Everett Foss, 88, died June 19, 2024, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, ME. He was born on March 10, 1936, in Pueblo, CO to Mildred Faxton Foss and Everett William Foss. Paul grew up on the family farm, a 160-acre property in Fowler, CO. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a second-class electronic aviation technologist with 65 carrier landings and 55 missions from 1956-1960. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul secured a position with NASA's Apollo Space Program working as a line supervisor, managing quality control of electronic components production for the space capsules until the demise of the space program in 1971. During this time, he met and married Cassandra (Sandy) Cassetta of Brooklyn, NY, and the couple resided in Downey, CA for nine years where they raised 3 children. In 1971, Paul relocated his family cross country to West Yarmouth, MA to be closer to Sandy's parents. The couple had their 4th child, and Paul became a carpenter and carpet/tile installer until his retirement in 2008 to Jay, ME where the couple resided for the remainder of Paul's life. Paul is survived by his loving bride of 62 years, Sandy Foss; daughters Melinda (David) Gilmore of Rehoboth, MA, Trisha (Brian) O'Hearn of South Yarmouth, MA; sons Neal (Paula Karras) of Brewster, MA, Jeffrey (Kim Greene) of West Yarmouth, MA; and grandchildren Ryan, Terry Gilmore; Seyla, Seth, Brent O'Hearn; Brennden, Katy Foss. He is also survived by nephew David Loehr of Fowler, CO and niece Ramona Rayhill of Las Vegas, NV. He is preceded in death by parents Everett and Mildred Foss, his sister Millicent (Sue) Loehr, and nephew, Buddy Loehr all of Colorado Springs, CO. Per Paul's request, no services will be held. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later time.
