Obituary

New Sharon - Rhonda "Ezra" Gail Floyd, age 59, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 18, 1965, in Warner Robins, Georgia, Rhonda's life was defined by resilience, dedication, and a deep commitment to the causes she cared about. As the daughter of a United States Air Force service member, Rhonda spent much of her early childhood traveling and experiencing different cultures. Her family's moves took her to various places, but she spent much of her adolescence and adult life in Maine, where she lived in South Berwick, Freeport, and Springvale. These communities became her home, and she forged lasting, meaningful connections. Rhonda later lived in Anson, Texas, before returning to Maine, where she resided in New Sharon at the time of her passing. Wherever she went, Rhonda's warmth, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor left a lasting impression. Rhonda dedicated many years of her life to a career in healthcare, working in various roles driven by a genuine desire to care for others. Her dedication and compassion provided comfort and support to countless individuals, and her selflessness touched the lives of all those she served. A lifelong animal lover, Rhonda was a passionate advocate for animal rights, supporting organizations such as PETA and local shelters. She found joy and solace in the company of animals, and her unwavering commitment to their welfare was a cornerstone of her life. In addition to her love for animals, Rhonda had a creative spirit and expressed herself through many forms of craft, creating beautiful works of art over the years. Rhonda took great pride in her role as a grandmother. She adored her five grandchildren—Zachariah, Alexzandra, Zane, Terra, and Ariah—and loved watching them grow. The time spent with her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she cherished each moment with them. Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie (Peed) Floyd and Odran Floyd, and her sister, Anne Schindler. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Jimenez and her husband, Michael, of Hawley, Texas, and her five grandchildren: Zachariah, Alexzandra, Zane, Terra, and Ariah. Rhonda is also survived by her nieces: Dianne Schindler of New Haven, Connecticut, Julie Seguin of Hampton, New Jersey, and Aliyah Schindler of Berwick, Maine. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Johna, Rhonda's cousin, who provided loving care and support during Rhonda's final days. With the compassionate assistance of the Beacon Hospice team, Johna's dedication allowed Rhonda to remain at home, surrounded by love. Additionally, Rhonda's friends and neighbors offered immense comfort, providing support, companionship, and acts of kindness throughout her illness. The love and care from all those around her helped Rhonda face her final days with grace and peace. Rhonda's quick wit and memorable stories, always delivered with dry humor, will be sorely missed but never forgotten. She had a remarkable ability to find the lighter side of life, and her sharp, humorous quips will continue to bring smiles even as we mourn her passing. In honor of Rhonda's memory, the family encourages donations to your local animal shelter or an act of kindness for an animal in need. Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scotts Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, Maine, where memories, photos, and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com
