Obituary

Ross Earle Barker passed away on June 29, 2024, at the age of 67 in Chesterville, ME. His passing was unexpected. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was born January 17, 1957, in Farmington, ME, to Margaret Ann and Robert Earle Barker. Ross grew up in Jay, ME. After his graduation in 1975, he joined the Air Force where he served initially in Computer Systems Operations. He completed his career in the Computer Systems Planning and Implementation Division. While stationed at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL, he met and married Cindy Barker. They were married for 35+ years. Upon retiring in 1995, he went to work for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as a Program Analyst. He worked for DISA for 18 years before retiring. After retiring from the federal government, he relocated to the beautiful mountains of Lashmeet, WV, where they lived for 10 years. Ross and Cindy became FL snowbirds in 2021. In 2023, they purchased a home in Frostprooof, FL, planning to continue spending the winter months in FL and traveling the remaining months. Ross enjoyed traveling the US with his wife and dogs, spending time with family/friends and fishing as much as possible. Additional interests in life have been golfing, cooking, motorcycle riding, RC flying and hunting. Ross is survived by his wife, Cindy Barker; sons, Craig Snyder, Jacob Snyder (Monica), and Ross II; daughter, Kate; grandchildren, Aiden Snyder, Grace Snyder, Finnegan Snyder, Declan Snyder, and Oliver Snyder; sisters, Delores Wheeler (Robert) of Chesterville, ME, Marsha Nile (Raymond) of Temple, ME, Melissa Barker of Oxford, ME; brothers, Gene Barker (Julie) of Winthrop, ME, and Glenn Barker of Plymouth, NH. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Margaret Barker. Per Ross's request, no services will be held. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later time.
