Obituary

Strong - Sharron L. Toothaker-Boyd, 79, of Strong, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on April 30th, 2026, surrounded by her family. Sharron was born on September 14th, 1946, to Madeline Tuttle and was later adopted by Edwin Toothaker, who helped raise her in Strong, Maine. Those early years shaped the person so many came to know and love. After graduating from Strong High School in 1964, she went to work at the Bass Shoe factory the very next day, beginning a long and dedicated career. She later worked at The Rib, where she became a familiar face and well known for her famous homemade donuts. After The Rib closed, she worked at Tranten's in Farmington, and in her later years, retired from the White Elephant in Strong. Sharron married Basil Boyd on April 16th, 1966, and they shared 37 years of marriage until his passing on April 1st, 2003. Together they raised two sons; Edward L. Boyd and Daniel A. Boyd. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a loving Nanna to a great granddaughter. Sharron is now reunited with her husband, Basil, her parents Madeline and Edwin Toothaker, and daughter in law Michelle Boyd. She is survived by her two sons, Edward (wife Carolyn) Boyd and Daniel Boyd. Grandchildren Danielle (fiancé Brian St. John) Boyd, Leigha Boyd and Sean Boyd; great granddaughter Carol Boyd-St. John; her sister Jean (husband Sid) Strom, and brother Ephraim (wife Joan) Toothaker; along with many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12pm on Saturday May 30th, 2026, at the Strong Village Cemetery, immediately following a celebration of life at a family home.
