Strong Maine: Sheila Boyd Fay, 71, died at her home in Strong on June 1st 2023 in the loving arms of her two daughters, Kim and Kathy and her husband Bill. She was so blessed with all the family and friends that came to visit her prior to her passing. She was born in Farmington Maine April 1, 1952, daughter of Fred and Lillian (Churchill) Boyd. She attended the Strong school where she later received her GED.
Sheila was a very hard and dedicated worker. Worked with the AMPS ambulance in Strong, the local area wood mills and shoe shops, then later on, running sporting camps that she and her husband Bill owned in Lincoln Maine before returning back to her home in Strong. In her younger days, her pride and joy was her horse Ringo. Together they won several ribbons for best in show and barrel racing
Sheila loved spending time with loved ones, camping, fishing and "stump buggying", holiday get-togethers and family gatherings in New York.
Sheila is survived by her husband of 23 years, William "Bill" Fay; daughters Kim Newell-Wyman and husband Dana of Strong; and Kathy (Harnden) Hargreaves and husband Todd of Farmington; Four stepsons: Eric Fay/wife Katrina, Brian Fay/wife Allison, Keith Fay/wife Roxanne, and Mike Fay/wife Lucinda. Brother/sister in-law Robert Boyd Sr/wife Judy; sister in-laws Sharon Boyd; Coleen Fay; Jessica Fay, and Maureen/husband Mike; Brother in-laws Michael/wife Kim; Kevin/wife Leslie. 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by both her parents, son in-law Rodney Newell, siblings; Carlton Boyd/wife Carol, Gary Boyd/wife June, Nancy (Boyd) Cook/husband Robert, and Basil Boyd. Nephew Robert "little Bob" Boyd Jr, stepson William "Billy" Fay Jr, Mother and Father in-law Dorethea and Harry, and brother in-law Jessie.
Per Sheila's request, there will be a family gathering at a later date in Strong.
The family would like to thank Maine Medical Doctors, Dr. Mack and Team and the ICU Nurses for the wonderful care they gave to Sheila and made it possible to be able to fulfill mom's wishes to get her home.
