Farmington - Shirley Ann Yeaton Blood, born on January 2, 1937, in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, passed away peacefully at The Pierce House in Farmington, Maine, on August 19, 2025, at the age of 88. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Margaret (Sadie) Yeaton. Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, Charles (Charlie) Blood, her mother, Sadie Yeaton, her sisters, Helen (Honey), Lucille (Lukey), and Mary, and her nieces, Susan Ross, Kim Ross and Samantha Davis. Shirley was born and raised in Belgrade Lakes Maine, where she met her future husband, Charles, and where she spent all her summers after marrying. She loved her large extended family and her friends, and she had a special bond with her beloved sister Mary's children. Shirley filled her home with love, warmth, fun, good food, children, and pets. In summer, she loved to cook and have large family gatherings at 'Camp' on Great Pond, presided over by her larger-than-life mother Sadie, and full of laughter, boating, water-skiing, and swimming. Her sister, Helen's three children, visited many summers at Camp. Shirley was young at heart, fit and athletic, taking up paddle boarding in her 70's and 80's. Shirley was a talented artist and photographer, creating oil paintings and photographs of wildlife, landscapes, and local landmarks. She was the bookkeeper for her husband's business while raising five children. She loved to travel, visiting places such as Bryce Canyon in Utah, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and her favorite, Maui, Hawaii, visiting several times with family members in tow and where she loved to snorkel and watch the Humpback whales. Shirley is survived by her five children; Kathleen Brown, Sharon Adams (James), Kenneth Blood (Maryann), Shelley Mills (Chris), Jill Blood (Chuck Walther); her grandchildren, Shaina Botka, Kenyon Brown, Keely Dube, Kenny & Kegan Blood, Sadie & Finn Mills, Troy Walther; several great-grandchildren; and many much beloved nephews and nieces of the Davis, Kenniston, Emerson and Ross families. Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Pierce House as well as Andwell Health Partners for their excellent care.
