Farmington - We regretfully announce the passing of Verna Rosalind Grimanis, who passed away unexpectedly on September 15th, 2025. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she took her last breath on this earth. Known by all as "Rose" or "Rosie", she lived a full and busy life. She was well known for her witty sense of humor, her compassion and generosity for others, and her hearty laugh that would light up any room that she was in.
Rose was born on April 30th, 1952, in Farmington to Walter and Irene Trask. She graduated from Jay High School in 1970. She earned a degree in education from University of Maine at Farmington in 1998, which she always claimed was one of her proudest accomplishments. She met the love of her life, Mike Grimanis, while studying at the counter of the Farmington Diner. The rest is Farmington history! They married in 1996, and together they ran the "dinnah" for decades, which was well known in the community for providing a hearty dinner at a reasonable price. Through the diner, she developed deep family-like bonds with her customers and employees alike! Later in life, Rose and Mike spent their time between their homes in Farmington and Old Orchard Beach, managing several properties. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen during the annual Greek festival in Lewiston, traveling to see her family, hosting family gatherings, and chasing her grandkids (and later great grandkids) around the house during many family gatherings. She was aways up for a joke, a sarcastic comment, or a witty costume to brighten up any family event.
Rose is survived by her son, Jonathon Fitch and his wife Katie of Virginia; her daughter, Jodi Fitch of Vermont; her son, Eric Fitch and his wife Jodie Desjardins of Old Orchard Beach; her stepson, Anthony Grimanis and his partner Holly of North Carolina; her brothers, Terry Trask and his wife Iris, Gene Trask, Jeffrey Trask and his wife Bonny; sister-in law, June Trask; half-brother, Sherman Adams and his wife Shirly; her special friend, Debra; her grandchildren, Andrew Fitch and his wife Tara, Mariah and her partner Robby, Brianna and her partner Armani, Isabella and Charlotte Fitch; shared grandchildren, Alex and Michael Grimanis; in addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren, Jace, Malachi, Eveyln, Ariella; soon to be great granddaughter; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Snuggles or "Snuggs", who kept her company in the last couple years of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; grandson, Austin Hardy, and her brother, Thomas Trask.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday Sept. 27th at Fairview Cemetery in Farmington at 11AM, followed by a potluck at Rose's home in Farmington.
