Every time I sat down to try, the sadness was overwhelming and the tears wouldn't stop, forcing me to put it away. But my love for Vicki gave me the strength to finally finish it, so the world can know what an incredible woman she was.

Vicki was my everything. She was my best friend, the love of my life, and she understood me. She was one of the only people who truly understood my heart. While others may have misunderstood me or didn't take the time to know me, Vicki knew exactly who I was and always backed me up. She loved me with all of her heart, and I loved her with all of mine."

Strong, Maine – Victoria "Vicki" Martin Shamp, age 52, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 19, 2025. Her untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved her most.

Our Love Story

Vicki and Dana’s love story began across thousands of miles. Vicki was working as a corrections officer in Anchorage, Alaska, while Dana was a police dispatcher in Maine. Introduced by mutual friends, they began talking, and within just a few short weeks, they were engaged. Trusting their profound connection, they even bought their first vehicle together before ever laying eyes on each other in person. Dana packed up his entire life and drove across the continent to meet Vicki for the very first time in Tok, Alaska, at the home of the friend who introduced them. From that unforgettable meeting, they built their life and their family. For years, they tried to have a baby, and their deep devotion was rewarded on April 18, 2014, with the birth of their miracle daughter, Skylar. Life was truly amazing ever since.

Her Spirit and Passions

Vicki was a woman of immense talent and boundless creativity who loved to do it all. She expressed her vibrant spirit through painting, crocheting, traveling, and capturing the world through her photography. An avid gardener, she found joy in nurturing life and beauty around her. Vicki was perhaps best known for her incredible hands-on craftsmanship; she routinely used her Dremel tool to carve unique, intricate pieces, lovingly creating custom Christmas gifts for her family every year.

Above all her passions, Vicki’s greatest joy was simply being with her husband and daughter. She was a deeply cherished wife, mother, and friend for over twenty years. Her warmth, presence, and kindness touched the lives of everyone in her inner circle, and she was a constant source of unconditional love and support.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Dana Shamp, and her beloved 12-year-old daughter, Skylar, who misses her mom more than anything in this world. They were the absolute center of Vicki's universe. She is also remembered by the many friends from over the years who hold a deep, lasting love for Vicki and Skylar, and the select few who continue to support the family through this difficult transition.

Vicki’s legacy of love, artistry, and fierce dedication to Dana and Skylar will live on in their hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
