Farmington - WANDA GAIL BRADFORD, 84, died November 25, 2025, in Farmington, Maine. Wanda was born July 17, 1941, in Lincoln, Maine, the daughter of Lloyd Bradford (1912-1993) & Emily (Campbell) Bradford (1913-2001).
After graduating with high honors from Mattanawcook Academy in 1959, Wanda's bright future and love of learning led her to a long and fulfilling career in nursing. She obtained her nursing diploma from Eastern Maine General Hospital and dedicated many years to caring for others, working with a variety of populations before eventually retiring from the State of Maine Department of Human Services.
As a young girl, Wanda discovered a love for the piano. She took lessons in high school, participated in recitals and enjoyed playing at home late into her life. However, Wanda's greatest passion was for animals, wild or domestic, and some in between. She worked with the Maine Warden Service to rehab wildlife. She once saved an orphaned baby seal found on the shore in front of her house, and on another occasion rescued a peregrine falcon with a broken wing. Of all the work she did with animals, her absolute favorite thing was to rehab baby raccoons.
Wanda spent several years in Wisconsin, eventually returning to Maine and settling in Jonesport. In 1991 she began her dream home nestled in the woods of Columbia Falls with a small pond nearby for all the wild visitors, and she remained there until July of 2021.
Wanda was sadly predeceased by her daughter, Carrie Trapp. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Trapp) Gotham and Susan Trapp; her grandchildren, Brooke (Aiden) Rittenhouse, Daniel Bouchey (Teagan), Anna, and Jacob; and her great-grandchildren, Maren, Oliver, and Georgia.
