FREEMAN—Mr. William Henry Peterken, aged 75, died peacefully at home on Thursday,
September 26. "Bill," to his friends and family, was born in Pittsburgh, PA., the son of Albert Edward Peterken and Ramona Irene (Smith) Peterken. He is survived by his twin sister, Betsy Peterken McCaughey; his daughter, Heidi Jo Ridley; and grandchildren, Touareg Lee and Falia Ridley. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Jill Peterken, who died in 2021.
Bill loved Maine and enjoyed the company of many friends he met attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington, participating in the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge, singing Karaoke, volunteering at the Salem Fire Department, supporting the National Rifle Association, and helping out with many local causes.
He was an accomplished designer and collector of firearms and held several patents. He also earned a law degree.
A potluck memorial reception will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 3 p.m. at the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge, 7 Main Street, Phillips. All are welcome.
